Hungarian - Spanish Sparkling Wine Duet Dinner

In April, our restaurant is preparing with a speciality, our guest can get acquainted with the excellent sparkling wines of the Hungarian winery Garamvári and the Spanish winery Codorniu.

The birth of the Garamvári Vincent Sparkling Wines was preceded by the preparation work of one decade and the 20-year-experience in making sparkling wine.   When the technology was chosen, Vencel Garamvári, production manager applied it with the aim of turning the good quality base wine into sparkling wine in a way in which the noble bouquet and aroma developed in the course of fermentation and aging could be preserved to maximum extent.  The rich carbonic acid content of the sparkling wine manifests itself in a fine, elegant perlage which is permanent and soft, and possesses a flavour integrated in the wine’s bouquet. It has a piquant, yeasty flavour. The sparkling wines are made from Chardonnay, Pinot Blac, Pinot Noir, Hárslevelű, Királyleányka Irsai Olivér wines.

The Codorníu family’s wine business goes back to the middle of the 16th century. They farm on 2175 hectares of land, most of which is located in Penedès; their primary vine varieties are the Macabeo, the Xarel-lo, the Parellada and the Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir is used for making rosé sparkling wines. The company has always been proud of its innovations: not only that they were the first to create cavá, but they were the first in Spain to use Chardonnay vine for making cavá and they were also the first to make rosé cavá from Pinot Noir. At present, the Codorníu is the world's largest family sparkling wine factory with the longest past.

 

 

Barka Áron, Chéf de Cuisine, Kovács Gábor, President of the Hungarian Sommelier Club and Kovács Ákos, Director of the ARAZ restaurant offer their jointly created menu to come with the excellent sparkling wines.
